Cancellations & refunds

Updated 13 October 2026

This website does not charge for browsing or preparing an enquiry. The guidance below explains how to raise a cancellation, return or refund issue for a purchase actually arranged with the business, without inventing a universal return period.

On this page

  1. Start with the actual purchase
  2. Before accepting an offer
  3. Explaining the problem clearly
  4. Condition, discrepancies and available remedies
  5. Confirm return arrangements first
  6. Repayment and follow-up
  7. Rights and unresolved questions

1. Start with the actual purchase

A browser draft creates no payment to refund. If you have bought a book or stationery item, identify the receipt, seller, item and payment concerned. A request about that transaction is distinct from a general question submitted through the website. Keep purchase records and any written conditions, since they establish what was agreed and help distinguish an actual charge from an enquiry that never became an order.

2. Before accepting an offer

Clarify the edition or specification, price, delivery or collection arrangements and any cancellation terms before confirming a purchase. If a particular condition matters, such as a required edition or date, make it explicit and seek confirmation. The website does not publish a standard deposit rule, cancellation fee or period for every transaction. Applicable statutory rights and valid transaction-specific commitments remain relevant even where no general policy is displayed.

3. Explaining the problem clearly

A useful request states whether you seek cancellation, a return, correction of a charge, replacement or repayment. Give the purchase date, item, reference and a short account of the issue. For an edition mismatch, distinguish the version requested from the one received. For stationery, describe the observed condition or specification difference. Do not put full card details, bank passwords or security codes in a message; limited identification can be clarified through an appropriate channel.

4. Condition, discrepancies and available remedies

A damaged item, incorrect edition, missing part or inaccurate charge should be assessed using the actual facts. Keep relevant records and explain the discrepancy without assuming that every problem has the same remedy. The appropriate response may depend on the purchase conditions and mandatory legal protections. This page does not classify all books as non-returnable, exclude statutory rights for stationery or require a buyer to accept a remedy that applicable law does not permit.

5. Confirm return arrangements first

Before sending an item back, establish the correct recipient, return destination and any practical instructions for the particular transaction. The registered company address in the footer identifies the legal business and is not automatically a parcel-return instruction. Preserve evidence of dispatch or handover where a return is arranged. Packaging, transport responsibilities and any related costs should be clarified in light of the agreement and the rights that apply to the purchase.

6. Repayment and follow-up

When a refund is agreed or legally required, confirm its amount, method and expected processing arrangements through a verified contact channel. This notice does not promise an automatic approval or fixed bank-processing period. Keep a record of the response and any reference supplied. If the amount or timing is unclear, ask what remains unresolved and for the basis of any deduction. Your payment provider may have separate procedures applicable to the original payment.

7. Rights and unresolved questions

An enquiry does not suspend a legal deadline. Where a matter remains unresolved, retain the receipt, relevant descriptions and correspondence and consider the procedures available under the applicable law. The Contact page can help prepare a message, but it does not itself prove receipt. Nothing on this page removes consumer protections, warranties that actually apply, an agreed remedy or access to a competent consumer authority or other lawful dispute process.
